Infusing
Have you ever wanted to try infusing your own liquor but you were afraid you might mess it up and spend too much money on an experiment? Well fear not. We have been infusing for years with great success and infusing is as easy as pie and as delicious. You will only need a few household items, a base liquor and your infusing ingredients.
Apple Infused Vodka Project From Creative Juice
This July 11th and 15th you can check out our episode of Creative Juice called Apples and Pears. In this episode we will give you the low down on a basic recipe for infusing vodka as well as some super fun projects.
If you wanna learn more about infusing, we suggest you check out Imbibe Magazine. Imbibe is a new magazine that focuses on cocktail culture. We helped out on a recent feature all about infusing. You can check out the link below or pop into any bookseller to pick up a copy.
The combinations for infusing are endless and you really can’t mess it up. So pickup some delicious summer fruits and make your own tasty concoctions.
Post a comment and let us know your favorite infusions!

WILL YOU BE HAVING IDEAS FOR HALLOWEEN OR A SHOW ON THE HOLIDAY

I watched your show yesterday on the apples. Awesome apple crisp recipe by the way. Next time I'm going to try to double up on the crisp and make it a little thicker. We were all fighting over the last bit *big family* lol.

I have a quick question on the infusing of the apples in the vodka. I know you said to keep it in the refrigerator to keep from spoiling but how long is the shelf life in a refrigerator? Will it stay good indefinitely as long as it's kept cold?

Hello to Laura -
Yes we will have tons of Halloween ideas. We are working on a 5 part Halloween special for DIY - but it is for 2007. This holiday (2006) we will have a 1-hour special called "Creative Juice for the Holidays" that will be filled with tons of ideas.
The holiday special begins Thanksgiving weekend and will air all December.
Here is a sneak peek at the projects:
Glittered Snowballs, Snowmen and Ornaments, Peppermint Bark, Tomato Cage Christmas Trees, Dreidel Game Board, Wreaths, Felt Bows, Raspberry Martinis with Green-Sugared Rims.
Thanks for watching and keep crafty,
Cathie

Hi Denisa,
Thank you for your kind words! Infusing is so much fun and each batch really turns our different and delicious. After you strain the apples from the infusion - you can store the infused vodka for up to a year in the refrigerator. Many people keep vodka in the freezer and that would prolong the shelf life. Thanks for watching and good luck with your next projects. If you wanna send pics of your completed projects - email then to imadethis@cathieandsteve.com and we will post them on our website.
Nice To Meet You, Cathie
