Halloween is just around the corner!!!

Halloween is right around the corner and Creative Juice is gearing up for some spooky fun. Skeletons, witches and pumpkins are very popular here on the set and candy corn seems to be the treat of choice. This is one of our favorite times of the year. We have been thinking of costumes for weeks.

Cathie has decided to be Marilyn Monroe with a twist, a green twist to be exact. Yes, Marilyn Martian, she has the dress, the wig, the shoes and even the mole on the side of her cheek, all green and all the style from the movie The Seven Year Itch. Sexy meets creepy.

I have decided to step away from what I usually do every year- which is some kind of monster or zombie. The more gory make-up I can put on my face and body, the better. But I’m changing my ways this year and going sleek and simple. All white from head to toe, a classic ghost from A Christmas Carol. I hope it works.

This weekend we will be putting the final touches on our costumes and making our caramel apples, one of our favorite Halloween traditions. We want to share this recipe because they are so much fun to make and delicious to eat, so have fun and HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN.

Here’s our recipe:
Ingredients:

1 cup of butter
1 cup light corn syrup
1 can (14 ounces) of sweetened condensed milk
2 cups of brown sugar (packed)
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Popsicle sticks
Apples (tart apples like a Granny Smith works best)

Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, combine the butter, corn syrup, milk and brown sugar; bring to a boil.

2.Cook and stir for about 30-40 mins., until a candy thermometer reaches 248 degrees

3.Remove from heat; add in vanilla.

4.Insert Popsicle sticks into the apples.

5.Dip each apple into caramel mixture; completely coating the applet.

6.Allow to cool on wax paper.

7.After they cool, decorate with sprinkles, nuts or design your own spooky creations like ghosts, cats or bats with gel frosting.

*This recipe makes approximately ten apples.
