Butterfly Skirt Episode--Airing Now
The guest of the current episode, Tina Marrin, is amazingly talented. She's an artist and approaches her knitting projects with a sculpter's eye. You may remember her from the knitted boot episode--those suckers were awesome! Anywhoodles, she designed a beautiful, kids' mermaid costume for my first book, New Knits on the Block. Everyone loved the stitch pattern she used so much that she decided to apply it to an adult-sized garment. The skirt she came up with is flirty, feminine and fun to knit.
I *heart* you Tina!
xo,
Vickie

I love your show!!! I'm teaching my son, 8 years old, to knit right now. After hours and hours of Knitty Gritty, he asked me if I would teach him how to knit. He's doing pretty good so far. He said he likes it better than trying to learn how to crochet.
You rock Vicki!!! Keep up the good work.

I'm back... took a break from knitting to have a snack and read the blog and comments... WOW! This is so much fun, knowing there are so many people around the country who are all knitting together and watching KG at the same time! :)
Vicki, two questions... did you knit your socks in the picture? They're cute!
And, do you recommend any particular online yarn retailer? Part of me thinks it would be hard to shop for yarn online because its the kind of thing I want to touch and feel before buying... but, if I am following a pattern exactly, I can see where buying the yarn online makes sense. So, any recommendations?
I'm with an earlier poster... its COOOOOLD in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania tonight... I'm glad to be warm and cozy inside with my fireplace going strong and my yarn keeping me warm! :)

Hey Vickie...Love your show, watch it on my lunch break everday....Quick question...I love making socks but when I go to pick up stitches while doing the heel gusset, I tend to get big holes where the yarn joins...Help??? Thanks

Dave--What have I told you about sassing me in public?!!! ;-)
Alena-So maybe next year when my son's 8, he'll be more interested?
Tracy--Ack! No, my socks are from Target. Caught. :-( I would recommend jumping on knitting boards to see what on-line stores people like. I'm one of those people that needs to touch the yarn before I buy it so I don't shop on-line much. However, I've heard people rave about Elann, Webs and Yarn Market. If you're looking for hand-dyed sock yarn, you may also want to check out: Scout's Swag.com!

Thanks for the help, Vickie! You are such a sweet person. This has been such an awesome experience tonight.... I loved "virtual" hanging with you and all the knitsters out there! :) Looking forward to new episodes of KG in April - you rock, girl!
Knit on :)

Yay! I have my yarn (my MIL sent me this awful stuff from the 80's, but it is wool, so I overdyed it) and as soon as I finish my WIP's, I'm all over this pattern!
Tracy--I ADORE elann.com. LOVE them. They ship so fast I swear it gets here a day before I hit "buy" lol! I also like knitpicks for the prices but shipping takes a loooonnggg time for me from them, which bums me out since they have a distribution center in Vancouver WA and I get charged tax--but the stuff doesn't come any sooner.
Annie's knitted corset is on now--hey...wonder how much LOVE it would take? I do think I heart love...you guys need to go feel it, it's amazing!
Oh and Vickie-I think I must be slow because I made only ONE cabled square during the game time. Darn arthritis. I am going to try to crochet a couple more too (that goes faster I think)

I can not find the butterfly skirt pattern. Where is it located or is it hidden for a reason

On the other hand, I heard that the new Vickie Howell collection of yarns are so awesome you can just take our word for it and purchase it online. The touch, the feel...of the Vickie Howell collection.
The first part of the last statement was used without permission from the National Cotton Council of America.

I loved the skirt with the butterfly stitch. When I first looked at the stitch in the skirt I was intimidated by it but after watching this episode I have learned that it is very simple and I can't wait to make something using it.
P.S. I love your show and I wish you were in a city closer to where I live so I could see you at one of the book signings!

Well one of my favorite episodes is on right now. I love Annie Modesitt!

Emma, Karen's looking for you now. Please hold...
There are about 90ish yards of LOVE in a hank so depending on the size, probably about 5-6.
Emma - here's the info for the Flirty Skirty episode: (there is not a pattern per se, but here are the step by step instructions)

Vickie, I was wondering where I can purchase your yarns at. Can they be purchased through SWTC?

Vickie,
I have so enjoyed watching your show. I continually learn something that I can apply to my knitting. I learned how to cable stitch from watching your show and I was able to show some fellow office workers how easy it is. We're "hooked"!
