Disco Glam Show Airing Now
If you're watching now, you're about to see some projects with a ton of razzle dazzle in 'em. The guest is my friend Brett Bara who is now the editor in chief of the new Crochet Today Magazine. If you're into crochet, it's a really cute magazine and Brett has a great sensibility. I recently designed a Daisy Chain scarf for them and hope to have time to do more in the future.
And...scene.
xo,
Vickie

Hi! I was just wondering, what's involved in being a knitster, and is there a certain age you have to be?

I have a subscription to Crochet Today. I LOVE it!

Oh, I forgot to mention! All of the projects from this episode are included in the new book, Knitty Gritty Knits!

I notice you wear a lot of really cool knits on the show. Are these made for you, or do you make them yourself. Also, do you like to crochet as well as knit or are you strickly a knitter?
PS - love the funky jewelry you wear too!

I just got my first issue of Crochet Today magazine yesterday so seeing the edtor is great! I learned to crochet 40 years ago. I just learned to knit about 2 years ago. I absolutely love your show and have been really excited about the knit in. I am not a football fan so this is perfect!

Hi Vicki, I Love your Show.
In the free pattern for the Ascot just given, I looked up in your glossary BO which stands for Bind Off, or Cast Off. What does PU stand for.
Thanks

Hi Vicki!
I am watching the marathon from Waterford, MI which is just northwest of Detroit. I enjoy your show!
I haven't checked your website for your book signing dates, but I hope you will be in the Detroit area soon!
What can you tell the "novice" knitter about yarns? Specifically, the difference between the yarns sold in Yarn Shops and yarns sold in retail chain craft and fabric stores?
Thanks for having this Knit In! I turned down a Superbowl party at a friends house to stay home and knit. I am dedicated to my craft!
Knitting happily in Michigan,
Becqui

To be a Knitster, just go to the "Be on DIY" page and scroll down to "Calling all Knitsters!"

I would like to know where is the best place to make suggestions and/or requests for show ideas. I really love the shows that show particular techniques and guests who knit in the continental style. Some of my favorite guests are Melissa Leapman and Karen Baumer. I learn lots from them.
Also, any chance of doing an updated version of the Knitting Workshop?
One thing I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see is how to adjust a pattern for different sleeve sizes or making the body longer. I know there are books out there that explain but being a sort of visual learner I would like to see on the show.
Thanks

Lindy-- The Knitster scoop is on the FAQ post but there isn't an age restrictiction. We've had as many kids as grandmas on! :-)
Crumbcake--PU stands for pick-up.
Becqui--Usually the difference between craft and boutique yarns is the fiber content (acryclic vs. wool), variety and price. However, that gap is slowly closing as chain stores are jumping on the knitting band wagon.
Lisa-- Although I enjoy knitting more, I've been crocheting for longer. I learned when I was 8. I usually have both knit and crochet projects going at the same time.
Most of my jewelry comes from my friend Jennifer Perkins (host of Craft Lab) who owns, www.naughtysecretaryclub.com
