Hi, this is Karen from the DIY programming department. Lots of people are asking why they can’t see the Knit In marathon on HGTV. While we do show episodes of Knitty Gritty on HGTV, the marathon is exclusive to DIY Network. If you don’t get DIY in your area, call your cable or satellite operator and request it. In the meantime, you can certainly keep on knitting/crocheting and blogging right here. In addition, you can also see some clips from Knitty Gritty on the website. Click on this URL and check out Vickie & the show.

Love the ascot. The yarn looks yummy. What gauge is it? worsted?

Hi Vickie:
The crowd here says "hi". We're all awaiting the big half time sale. Since the Bears have scored twice already, we're looking at 45% off! Hope you're having fun!
The group here wants to know if you've finished your poncho and whether you've used the Kandy Kane yet?
Posted by: Hollis at February 4, 2007 7:01 PM
Ok football fans - keep on knitting & crocheting. The score of the game is now Bears 14, Colts 6. The Colts missed their point after attempt after the holder bobbled the snap, so that’s why they only have 6 points. The Bears came back and scored after that. I'll keep you updated on the score so you don't have to turn away from the Knit In marathon. :)

Hi Vickie!
I have been looking forward to the Knit In all week, and have enjoyed it so far. I am a very beginning knitter, and have only mastered the cast on and knit stitch. I am woefully purl challenged!
I am watching the Knit In in the family room, and the football fans have been banished to the basement.
Love your show, Vickie.

This event is great. Thank you! I'm watching from upstate New York - near Albany.

Hollis- Thanks for the update! Are people going crazy for your half-time bargains?
No, the crazy tour schedule has left me poncho-less! Can't wait to try the Kandy Kane, though!
Carolyn- That's my girl!

I read your blog all the time. Thank you for bringing knitting back.

Hi Vickie!
I am a fairly new knitter and even more new at blogging. I can't wait for the other episodes tonight. Lisa

Hi, I'm watching and knitting from Dayton, Ohio...working on Christmas Socks...I've already done several squares that I gave to a group that puts them together into afghans for the needy and hospice patients. And working on swatches that are part of my group's "Teach the Homeless to Knit/Crochet" effort here in Dayton...
Knit on all...

FOOTBALL UPDATE:
Ok football fans - keep on knitting & crocheting.
The score of the game is now Bears 14, Colts 9. The Colts kicked a field goal to close the gap a bit.
I'll keep you updated on the score so you don't have to turn away from the Knit In marathon. :)
KNIT ON!

:ey Vickie this is Andy from Denver NC. I watch and love your show. My children fuss because I knit all the time. They don't realize knitting is therapy. What is your take on guys who knit? Do you plan to have more male knisters

Kate-- Yes, we had a bunch of guys as knitsters and guests for the the 2 seasons we just finished shooting. As the mother of two sons, it's really important to me to break the stereotypes that prevent boys from knitting. I believe that knitting is just as exceptable as a creative outlet as painting, playing music or writing. I encourage anyone and everyone to pick up their needles!

Love this pattern! THANK YOU! Knit On!

Hey gang, I got to feel the new yarns yesterday at Vickie's book signing, and Oh Em Gee they are awesome!
I wish I'd asked her if she was going to post a 1 skein pattern (but who knew?) because I def would've bought one--I was trying to justify the expense... the bamboo/silk is just amazing, it is YUMMY!
I know what I'll be buying next time I'm there...
Thanks Vickie

Howdy from Knoxville TN (I live right over the hill from HGTV/DIY headquarters, less than 1 mile as the crow flies),
Thanks for the link to the ascot pattern. It looks like a fun, quick knit. I'm seriously into lace knitting and things that go around necks and shoulders, so this looks like a project for me :-) Are there any plans to feature more lace knitting on Knitty Gritty? Lace is really booming in popularity so I think it would be make for a super show or two.
Knitting on while cheering for Peyton Manning (a fellow U of Tennessee alum) and the Colts.

Hello All, Go COLTS!!!. I am a native Minnesotan currently staying with my daughter in Chicago. Vickie, I am looking forward to seeing you at the Mall of America February 17th and 18th. Do you know your appearance times yet? I'm having fun knitting squares and flipping between Knitty Gritty and "The Game". I have seen all of the episodes of KN many times. I was happy to see some new ones this past week. Knit On!!!!!!!!

I just love your show and I'm so excited to be able to watch it back-to-back tonight instead of watching "the" game. I always learn so much from your shows. Keep bringing on the cool ideas and.... Knit On!

Hey Vickie!
Just curious as to how you choose your guest knitsters? I love the way you have beginners learning during the show and asking some of the same questions we are wondering here in our own living rooms...
Hey! I love the crochet hook technique for binding off! I just saw that being done! Works for me!
Still knitting!!!!

we had a young fella come to our 'learn to knit' class and the instructor did not want to teach him - thought it was too sissy - what a jerk(the teacher!)
our crochet group has a man who is the best in the entire group - all the ladies fawn over him - cute and talented

greetings from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Have passed the word on to every knitster that I know across the nation.
Squares need apply . . . that's from an old hippie who learned to knit back before it was cool, and who made a cable from a home that still had a party-line. That's a blog, but only the Ma Bell operator was listening in! Needles up!

Hi Vickie!
I love your show. You've inspired me to try knitting again after decades of crocheting since I was 7! I'm watching the marathon from Murrieta, CA.
I can be found at:

or

but I am really, really REALLY bad about keeping up with either site!!--I guess I've just been too busy knitting!! ;-)

LOVE the crochet hook bind off!!
Answer to Dana J - I heard them say it on the show once, you email into the show and ask. There may be some form or link off the website I don't know about, but they made it sound like it was too easy to be a knitster. Go for it!!!
I have taught myself to knit from books and Knitty Gritty, now learning to crochet from books. Thought this was a great project to start with! Thanks for caring about other people and using your gift and passion for the greater good! :)

You mentioned once that you don't usually use the traditional cast on method. Which method do you use. I saw a demo once using a crochet hook, do you recommend that one?
Posted by: Mari at February 4, 2007 9:10 PM
Hey Michelle,
Thanks for the info! I have been knitting and crocheting since I was 8 yrs old. So, that gives me about 33 yrs and I still am learning! Vickie and Knitty Gritty have taught me some really neat techniques!
Vickie, how long have you been crafting and what gave you the idea for such a successful show? I bet your producers are sure glad you came along!
We all love it! Knit On!

I am watching DIY and knitting in Winchester, Virginia. Loving all the episodes, especially the purse with darning - looks fabulous, yet a beginner can do it!

I'm watching from Minneapolis - really enjoy your show, and glad to have a chance to see more of them, since I can't watch during the day. Though I've been knitting/crocheting for quite a while, it makes me feel so good to see the people who have writen books I admire make the same mistakes I do!! I've picked up so many great ideas and tips - thanks for having a knitting program on.

To Judi From Minneapolis: There is a knitting event at the MOA 2/17 and 2/18. Vickie will be appearing there. I'm excited to be a part of an event like this one. Mary
