Home Stretch!
Well folks, we're on the home stretch now. I took a picture of myself that I was going to post as proof of life that I'm still here with you but frankly, mama is tiiired and not so much looking good. :-)
If you've got any more questions, now's the time because there's only 15 minutes left of the knit in!
xo,
Vic

Hi Vickie....Love your show...I watch it every day on my lunch break. I do have a question, I love making socks but it seems that when I go to pick up stiches when doing the heel gusset, I always end up with large holes where the yarn joins....Any good tips?? Thanks

Thank you so much for such a wonderful show and such great books! I probably shouldn't admit that I'm just now attempting my first sock (I'm a *very* timid knitter) but there is absolutely no way that I'd be able to do it without watching your show. It has demystified so much of knitting for me! Thanks again.

I just finished my square and it will be mailed off tomorrow (yay!).

I just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to talk to us tonight!
I am so glad that I could be a part of this. Warm up America is such a good cause (as is any charity knitting) and it's so great that you promote knitting for a cause.
Again, thank you so much and I hope to meet you to thank you myself ;)
Please keep up all of your great work and, as you say so well.... Knit On!

Just wanted you to know that some of us are still with you. Of course, the last four hours are going to be repeated here, so I can go back and pick up some of the things I missed.
I love that you mix both basics with more advanced skills. While I learned to crochet as a kid, I only learned to knit about 10 yrs ago and then didn't do much with it until this last year when I joined a stitch n bitch group.
I do American Civil War reenacting and we have a great Yahoo! Group of people who do various Civil War Needlearts (cwneedlearts). While our patterns are strictly documented to the mid-1860's and before, you'd be surprised how many of them can still be used today. We even have a couple ladies who are translating all the patterns from the French fashion magazines into English and into modern terms to knit today. It's certainly an interesting contrast to modern patterns.

Thanks for a fun night of football, knitting and blogging. Peyton and the Colts won, I made some progress on a pair of fingerless mitts I'm designing, I got some more great ideas from the show, and I got to share in the love of the knitting community online. All in all I'd say it's been a great evening! Let's do it again next year. maybe we could have you and the knitsters live on TV during the Super Knitty Gritty Event next year????? Now that would really ROCK!

well, I hung til the end, happily knitting my squares...I had so much fun! Thank you Vickie for hanging out with us!!!

Hey Vickie!
I am hanging right in until the end! I have been "brushing" yarn all evening to make roving for the stars on the Wizard hat that is currently drying over a bowl! I tried to find roving, but no luck...this method seems to be working...would you have any different suggestions?
I would LOVE to meet you at the Mall of America...I hope I can get there...travel safe and thanks for the Knit in!

One thing that you can do is pick up the bar between the instep and the picked up gusset stitches and knit it through the back loop. That stitch becomes one of the gusset stitches. Hope that helps!

I asked this before but I will do it again....so many post I am sure it got lost.
Where is the best place to make suggestions/requests for upcoming episodes?
You are the best!

Hi Vicki!
I haven't learned to knit yet, but I do crochet. Watching your show has given me some ideas for projects after I purchase some neeedles! I viewed the marathon a little late, but definately going to crochet a square for the cause!
Take care!

Vickie, Can you tell me where I can purchase your yarn at. Can it be purchased at SWTC?
Posted by: Teri Bay at February 4, 2007 11:03 PM
Vickie!! I LOVE knitty gritty!!!!! I wish they would put your show on HGTV like they did creative juice because I don't get DIY at school!!! I'm so bummed I missed the whole knit in marathon tonight!! My best friend is a huge charity knitter, she made a blanket for project linus and socks for kids in orphanages in Russia, I am planning on getting together with her and the rest of the viewers tonight for the Warm Up America squares sounds like a great cause!!
