The New Knitty Gritty Knitting Blog
Well, it's been more than a month since the DIY Knit-In, and I wanted to let all of our knitters know what a great bunch of people you all are! The response to the event was overwhelming, and what impressed me most was the friendly, positive tone of all the entries. It was like having a huge knitting party with a lot of new friends!
I'm Nan, the online editor on Knitty Gritty, and I've decided DIY needs a knitting blog, so here goes. Bear with me as I enter the brave new world of blogging (up until fairly recently I thought if I hit the wrong key on a computer, I might break it -- that's how technologically challenged I am).
I have some really cool yarns that I'm experimenting with, and as soon I have any interesting info to share with you, I'll get it posted. In the meantime, if you've had experience -- good or bad -- with any of the new fibers (bamboo, soy, banana, whatever), please feel free to share them here. I haven't played around with them yet, so I'm curious as to how they actually knit up, how they feel, etc.
Let's see if we can't get this blog going so we can all make new friends and share news about the needle arts we all love (and this means you crocheters, too -- you're part of this family, and maybe you can help me get back into crocheting, which I dropped after my mom and crocheting mentor passed away). I look forward to hearing from everyone!
I'll be back once a week to update the blog and see what's going on with our viewers. Until my next post, here's a project from the archives that I'm working on right now (and it's in keeping with the knitting-for-charity theme of the knit-in). My friend Jen is having a baby girl (Annie) next month, so I'm all about knitting baby caps and other tiny treasures. This project, the Baby Hat from Stitches From the Heart, is sized for a newborn, so Annie will be getting a few of these from Aunt Nan to keep her little head warm.
